Peab has been commissioned to build the much discussed Kuggen for Chalmers in Gothenburg. Peab received the order from Chalmersfastigheter and the value of the contract is SEK 90 million.
Kuggen will be built at Lindholmen by the Göta River in central Gothenburg. Academia, business and society are working together at Lindholmen to create a sustainable future. By constructing new buildings and changing the current ambience, Chalmers and the City hope to create new and better meeting places in order to strengthen the environment for innovation.
Construction on the project, which is a general contract in cooperation, has already begun and is expected to be completed in June 2011.
“Peab is incredibly proud that we have been entrusted to build Kuggen. Green Building certification will also make Kuggen an important best practice building from a construction technology point of view where Peab can contribute sustainable solutions and environmental expertise,” says Håkan Olsson, Peab Regional Manager.
“A key issue in developing Lindholmen is getting all the interested parties to work together and cross-pollinate each other. An open and active environment that stimulates collaboration and innovation is a vital part of the puzzle in developing this knowledge cluster. We are creating a sustainable future at Lindholmen with Kuggen,” says Lennart Hedström, MD Chlamersfastigheter.
