Peab rebuilds apartments in Helsingborg

Peab has been commissioned to rebuild 112 apartments for rent from the 1950s in southeast Helsingborg. The customer is AB Helsingborgshem and the contract is worth SEK 101 million.

The apartment buildings were built in 1955 and designed by brothers Erik and Henry Andersson from the then leading Arkitektfirman Arton in Helsingborg. The project consists of two buildings totaling around 6,000 m2 which will undergo an extensive renovation outside and inside. The renovation includes replacing roofs, windows and ventilation systems as well as putting in new pipes. All this will be done while the apartments remain occupied.

“This is a significant public investment in Helsingborg that we are naturally proud to contribute to. The fact that Helsingborgshem has commissioned us to renovate older apartments is important for both environmental and conservation aspects. This is also a good example of our locally produced community building,” says Bratislav Marjanovic, Region Manager Peab.

“This is an important project for Helsingborgshem where we’re investing in security and reducing climate impact by streamlining energy consumption. We’re also handling maintenance needs in a good way. We’re doing this together with our tenants, with whom we have a close dialogue, and with Peab where we continually develop new work methods to ensure the best financial outcome and happy tenants,” says Karl Martell, Head of Construction, Helsingborgshem.

The project is a turnkey contract in partnering. Construction will start in November 2020 and the project is expected to be completed in September 2022.

The project will be order registered in the fourth quarter 2020.
