Peab builds new drinking water reservoir in Lund

Peab has been commissioned to build a new drinking water reservoir in Lund Municipality to secure the drinking water supply in western Skåne. The customer is Sydvatten and the contract is worth SEK 136 million.

Sydvatten produces clean drinking water for almost a million inhabitants in western Skåne. In order to manage with the daily variations in water consumption, both in terms of capacity and redundancy in the supply of water, Sydvatten has signed a contract with Peab to build a new drinking water reservoir in Lund Municipality. The new drinking water reservoir will be 35,000 m2 and supplied with water from a new drinking water pipeline. The reservoir will have a 70 meter diameter and a 12 meter wall height.

"This is an extensive and technically challenging project in which we, together with Sydvatten, will build a completely new drinking water reservoir. With the design work behind us, we feel confident about the technical solutions and are satisfied with the content of the project. We really look forward to this critical infrastructure project," says Göran Wiking, Region Manager at Peab.

The project is a turnkey contract that started with project planning in April 2023. The new drinking water reservoir is expected to go through final inspection in December 2025.

The project will be order registered in the second quarter 2024.
