Peab builds new Röspark School in Åmål

Peab has been commissioned to build an elementary school for grades 1-3 in Åmål. The customer is Åmål’s municipal properties and the contract is worth SEK 210 million.

The new school will be built on the existing school grounds and the old school will be torn down. The new school will be two stories with several entrances from the school grounds. Common rooms for media, a library and a workshop will be built in the middle of the building and offices for personnel, the school nurse and special pedagogues will be centrally placed. A production kitchen and cafeteria will be placed on the eastern side of the ground floor.

A standalone gym with a glulam frame and walls of cross-laminated timber will be built along with the school. Renovation of an existing building is also included in the project.

“We are very pleased to be part of building a school that will exist for many generations to come. Peab has broad experience in building schools, one of our latest projects was construction of the Södra School in Grums, and we bring that expertise with us into this project,” says Nils Staffansson, Region Manager Peab.

The project is a continuation of an ongoing contract under which Peab is already building a gym, among other things.

The project is a turnkey contract. Construction is planned to start in January 2021 and is expected to be completely finished in the second quarter 2023.

The project will be order registered in the fourth quarter 2020.
