Peab builds swimming pool facility in Solna

Peab has been commissioned to build a new swimming pool facility next to Arenastaden in Solna. The customer is Solna City and the contract is worth SEK 133 million.

Four pools will be built in the new facility; the biggest will have ten, 25 meter swimming lanes, one will be a training pool, one will be a multi-pool with a height adjustable bottom and one will be a children’s pool. In addition to this, Peab will build a sauna, a changing room, technology space, a reception, registers and administration offices as part of the project. The facility will also contain a café that will be part of the operations. The entire swimming pool facility will be around 5,000 m2 and dimensioned for 360 visitors.

The new swimming pool facility will be built on the ground floor of an office building which has been procured in a separate contract. The two buildings are integrated into each other in a so-called three-dimensional property formation, which means that they share some common constructions. The new property will be built next Ulriksdal’s sports grounds, close to three existing skating rinks, Arenastaden and Friends Arena.

“We are grateful to be able to continue developing Solna. With the new pool facility this area will be a great place for training, exercise and sports for Solna residents. Peab has a great deal of experience in building pool facilities - at the moment we are building, among other things, pool facilities in Kristianstad, Köping and Kiruna and have just finished an extensive renovation of Forsgrenska badet in Medborgarhuset in Stockholm,” says Lars Enroth, Region Manager Peab.

As a result of the many pool facility projects Peab has an expert group on pool facility building that provides advice and experience exchanges to local project organizations that are going to build a pool facility.

The swimming pool facility in Solna is planned to be certified according to Miljöbyggnad Silver.

The project is a traditional contract. Construction is planned to start in April 2021 and the swimming pool facility is expected to open to the public in the autumn of 2022. The project will be order registered in the third quarter 2020.
