Peab receives five contracts for road maintenance

Peab has received operation contracts for the maintenance of roads from the Swedish Transport Administration in Kungsbacka, Kungälv, southeast Värmland, Västerås and Sveg. All the contracts are for four years with an extension option for two years and the cumulative worth of the contracts is SEK 753 million.

The contracts are spread over four years, starting September 1, 2021, and entail ensuring that roads are safe and trafficable. This means snow plowing and anti-icing in the winter with a 24 hour response and during the bare ground road season repairing roads, fixing drainage as well as reparation and installation of road signs and road barriers. The contracts cover a total of around 450 Swedish miles.

“Working with operation and maintenance means really making a difference every day. Making sure our roads are safe and reliable is an important job for us as community builders and we are very proud of our participation in this,” says Bengt Johansson, Region Manager Peab.

Peab has been responsible for the network of roads in Kungälv, Värmland and Sveg for years while Kungsbacka and Västerås are new areas for us.

“We’re very happy to once again be entrusted with the operation areas we already maintain and naturally it’s an honor to take on the new Västerås and Kungsbacka areas.

Many employees live in the vicinity of our operation areas. They are very familiar with them and already work well together with local subcontractors,” says Bengt Johansson.

As of January 1, 2021 Peab has gathered all our business with state road management into one cohesive region that operates all over Sweden. In total Peab works with 23 of 108 national road operation areas run by the Swedish Transport Administration which makes us one of the largest actors on the Swedish market in state road management.

All five contracts are for four years with an extension option for two years. The projects will be order registered in the second quarter 2021.
