Peab carries out renovation project at Helsinki University Hospital

Peab has been commissioned to carry out a renovation project of the A Building of the Women’s Hospital at the Helsinki University Hospital (HUS) in Helsinki. The customer is HUS Kiinteistöt Oy and the contract is worth EUR 30 million.

The project entails a comprehensive renovation of the A Building of the Women’s Hospital in Meilahti in Helsinki. A passageway on the second floor connecting it to the L Building is also included in the project. A total of 8,000 gross m2 will be renovated.

This renovation is part of a total renovation program that consists of several stages aimed at modernizing the Women’s Hospital in order to meet future demands for patient-orientated and cost-effective operations.

“The Women’s Hospital was the largest maternity hospital in Europe when it was built almost 90 years ago. Carrying out the total renovation of such an important building while demonstrating our expertise is a wonderful opportunity,” says Marko Rinkinen, Region Manager Peab.

Construction starts in June 2022 and the project is expected to be completed in June 2024.

The project will be order registered in the second quarter 2022.
