Peab builds Hitachi Energy's new campus in Västerås

Peab has been commissioned to build Hitachi Energy's new campus at Finnslätten in Västerås. The customer is Hitachi Energy and the contract is worth SEK 1.1 billion.

Hitachi Energy is expanding its strong presence in Västerås by investing in a new, modern campus where the company's various operations in the city will be gathered under one roof. The new facility, which covers approximately 40,000 m2 will be a workplace for all the company’s employees in Västerås and includes a research and development center, offices and a factory for network automation products.

The project will have a strong focus on sustainability and the intention is to be certified according to the LEED Gold standard.

"We’re proud to that we’re at the production phase of this project now. We have the necessary expertise and capacity at Peab to carry out the work with high quality and efficiency. It's inspiring to see the way our plans are turning into concrete construction and we look forward to continuing to contribute to Hitachi Energy's investment in Västerås," says Nils Staffansson, Region Manager Peab.

"With our new campus in Västerås we’re taking an important step towards enabling growth in the city. It's very exciting to see how everything is starting to take shape, and we look forward to a great collaboration with Peab. By bringing all our employees together, we are creating a platform for greater collaboration, a stronger sense of community and an environment that stimulates creativity and innovation – in our quest to inspire the next era of sustainable energy," says Tobias Hansson, CEO of Hitachi Energy in Sweden.

This construction contract was preceded by a so-called phase 1 contract whereby Peab is contracted to work with the customer to optimize the project with the right quality and manage risks and uncertainties. The project is now entering phase 2, which entails signing a construction contract.

The project is a turnkey contract in partnering and construction will start in October 2025. The project is expected to be completed in December 2027.

The project will be order registered in the third quarter 2025.
