Peab has been commissioned to rebuild and extend the theater and the adjoining high school premises. The customer is Uddevalla Municipality and the contract is worth SEK 100 million.
The extension includes the renovation of the entrance, foyer, stage and dining room as well as the addition of a flexible multi-purpose hall with stands and six new classrooms for the adjoining high school. The theater is also widely used outside of school hours and the upcoming expansion is expected to create greater opportunities for events and performances.
"We’re very proud of the trust placed in us by Uddevalla Municipality. It's exciting that Peab can contribute to more modern educational facilities in the area and expand the theater which mean a great deal to the entire cultural scene in Bohuslän," says Stellan Haraldsson, Region Manager Peab.
Östrabo Theater has 500 seats and is centrally located in Uddevalla.
"It feels great that the project is up and running and we look forward to it being a successful project in collaboration with Peab," says Peter Andersson, representative of Uddevalla Municipality.
The project will be carried out as a turnkey contract in partnering. Construction is planned to start at the end of April/beginning of May 2026 with completion in the summer of 2027.
The project was order registered in the first quarter 2026.
