Peab renovates office building in Helsinki

Peab has been commissioned to renovate an office building in Helsinki. The customer is the City of Helsinki and the contract is worth EUR 20 million, which corresponds to SEK 212 million.

The project includes the renovation of a 6,200 m2 five-story building constructed in 1985. The interior will be torn out, the attic will be rebuilt for new use, the facades will be renovated and the building's technical installations will be completely updated. At the same time, the property's energy efficiency will be improved.

The building has previously been used as office space, and when the renovation is completed, it will house a family center which will promote the health and well-being of families with children, and health and nursing care.

"We’ve collaborated well with the client during the development phase of the project and have found solutions that will work well for the building's continued use. The project is flexible and planned so that it can be implemented smoothly to achieve the best possible result. We’re really looking forward to taking this on," says Ilkka Laakeristo, Region Manager Peab.

This construction contract was preceded by a so-called phase 1 agreement where Peab was contracted to optimize the project with the right quality together with the customer and handle risks and uncertainties. The project is now entering phase 2, which entails signing a construction contract.

Preparatory work has begun and the project is expected to be completed in February 2027.

The project will be order registered in the first quarter 2026.
