Peab builds new buildings at Skogome Prison

Peab has been commissioned to carry out two construction projects at Skogome Prison in Gothenburg. The projects comprise a total of three new buildings, one building with education and employment premises and two new buildings for housing. The customer is Specialfastigheter and the combined contract value is SEK 322 million.

Skogome Prison in Gothenburg will be one of the largest prisons in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service with room for around 800 inmates. Peab has been commissioned to build three new buildings as part of this substantial expansion. A new employment facility will increase the prison's capacity to offer meaningful activities and education for the inmates in one building and there will be 132 resident rooms with a total of 264 beds in two new housing buildings.

"This type of security-classed project places particularly high demands on us as contractors. That's why I'm proud that we've been entrusted to contribute with our experience and expertise and to the important operations of Specialfastigheter and the Prison and Probation Service," says Stellan Haraldsson, Region Manager Peab.

All the new buildings in the contract will be certified according to Miljöbyggnad Gold, which entails high demands on sustainable material choices and long-term environmental performance.

The projects are traditional contracts starting in the first quarter 2026 and will be handed over in the third quarter 2027 and the first quarter 2028, respectively.

The project will be order registered in the first quarter 2026.
