Peab builds homes in Askim

Peab has been commissioned to build homes for the urban development project Bytorget in Askim, Norway. The customers are Askim Næringspark Bolig AS and Askim Næringspark AS. The order is worth NOK 319 million, which corresponds to SEK 334 million.

The project comprises 116 apartments of various sizes and approximately 2,000 m2 of commercial space. The project also includes green areas, a parking garage and a community building for residents. With its central location the project will be part of what is known as Askim's "3-minute city" close to public transport, shops, cultural offerings and public services.

"We look forward to breaking ground and realizing the plans for the area. Together with our customers and the project developer, we have spent time developing a block that fits in with downtown Askim and gives the city both new homes and new meeting places. It's inspiring to be part of a project that creates something new while preserving the history that already exists there," says District Manager Trond Bergsland, Peab Norway.

This construction contract was preceded by a so-called phase 1 contract where Peab was contracted to find an optimized product with the right quality and to manage risks and uncertainties together with the customer. The project is now entering phase 2, which entails signing a construction contract.

Construction is scheduled to start in the fall of 2026 and is expected to be completed in the second quarter 2029.

The project will be order registered in business area Construction in the fourth quarter 2026.
