Peab renovates rental apartments in Helsinki

Peab has been commissioned to carry out an extensive renovation of rental apartments for Helsingin kaupungin asunnot Oy (HEKA) in Jakomäki in Helsinki. The contract is worth EUR 22 million.

The project entails an extensive renovation of three high-rises built in the years 1968-69. A total of 210 apartments will be renovated.

The buildings will be updated according to modern standards. Even common areas like basements and saunas as well as the yards will be refurbished. In connection with the renovation the buildings’ energy efficiency will be improved and a solar panel system will be installed.

“We have amassed a great deal of experience in renovating apartments for the city of Helsinki. It’s great that we’ve also been given this renovation project where we can take advantage of our broad expertise. This kind of project requires special planning, all round know-how and collaboration among craftsmen with different skills,” says Marko Rinkinen, Region Manager Peab.

The project is a turnkey contract. Construction starts in February 2022 and the project is expected to be completed in November 2024.

The project will be order registered in the first quarter 2022.
