Peab renovates rental apartments in Helsinki

Peab has been commissioned to carry out an extensive renovation of rental apartments for Helsingin kaupungin asunnot Oy (HEKA) in Herttoniemi in Helsinki. The contract is worth EUR 18 million.

The renovation project is for an eight story apartment building from 1961 with 150 apartments owned by Heka. The building’s HVAC, plumbing, electrical and building automation systems as well as the elevators will all be updated. The renovation also includes the stairwells, saunas, laundry rooms and common areas. The outer renovation consists of additional insulation and plastering the facade, putting in new windows and outer doors as well as renovating balconies. At the same time geothermal heating and solar panels will be installed in the building.

The project is the fifth apartment building renovation Peab does for the city of Helsinki.

“We have amassed a great deal of experience concerning apartment renovations in Helsinki. We’re proud to carry out this project as well, where our expertise in a number of areas will come well to pass. This type of project requires good planning, broad know-how and collaboration between different professions,” says Marko Rinkinen, Region Manager Peab Finland.

The project is a turnkey contract. Construction starts in May 2023 and the project is expected to be completed in April 2025.

The project will be order registered in the second quarter 2023.
